INNOVA Certification & Hand-Guided Basics

The Innova Longarm Certification & Hand-Guided Basics course is the required first step for anyone wishing to rent our Innova longarm machines. In this hands-on class, students will learn the essential skills needed to operate the machine safely and confidently. Topics include understanding the sewhead and controls, threading the machine, winding and changing bobbins, loading backing, batting, and quilt top onto the frame, adjusting tension, and starting, stopping, and advancing a quilt. Students will also learn basic maintenance such as cleaning lint, changing needles, and proper shutdown procedures.
The second half of the class focuses on hand-guided quilting. Students will learn how to move the machine smoothly, use stitch regulation, practice basic free-motion designs, and become comfortable quilting independently. By the end of class, each student will complete a practice project and demonstrate the ability to load, quilt, advance, and remove a quilt safely. Successful completion of this course certifies the student to rent the longarm for hand-guided quilting and unlocks eligibility for our next-level computerized or Pantovision quilting classes.
Students who complete their first rental session within two weeks of their certification course will receive a $50 credit (equivalent to two hours of rental time) added to their longarm punch card balance.
